On a few instances our guests have been given 10 Estonian Krone notes (worth less than a euro) instead of 10 Latvian Lats notes. 10 Latvian Lats is approximately12GBP. Embassy staff and their family members are officially prohibited from patronizing these locals. These prohibitions were put into place to ensure the safety of American Embassy employees and their family members.
