I was born in raised in Riga and proud to call myself the lone local on the Europe Out There Team. You might say it was one of the few things I don’t like about Riga that landed me this job in the first place, the fact that in this “big village”, one way or another everybody knows everybody.
One lazy summer day on the beach spent playing hard rather than working harder, I was introduced to Austin by one of my closest mates. It did not take long for us to see that we both had a glass half full (of wine…..) take on life and before long I was offered a job helping him turn his dream of a tours company into a reality!!
And so it was that my journey with Europe Out There began, helping this guy to build bridges and introducing him to my many childhood friends who have since become the entrepreneurs and trend setters in town. As the events manager for Europe Out there, It has become my place to make sure these big kids I work with are keeping their feet on the ground. Their excitement and enthusiasm for their work often gets them more excited and carried away than my 4 year old daughter, or as some may say ”my reflection of perfection”
The fact that I work with foreigners who have up rooted and moved their lives to my own back yard has certainly given me a different view on my home-country. Before working with Europe Out There I must admit I did not see Riga as a place that would be exciting or unique for travelers to visit. Odd enough, it took this mix match team of foreigners who have fallen head over heels in love with my home to show me what both me and my fellow Latvians often take for granted.
4 1/2 exciting years of seeing wide eyes and cheek to cheek smiles on my clients face has left no doubt in my mind that this place lives up to the Hype!! After having the pleasure to organize and often take part in so many guests experience in Riga, I have become a true believer in the potential and charm of my little country!!
