There were 200 000 persons who had chosen Riga congress centre as the venue for their meetings in 2006 . Riga congress centre organizes concerts, international and local conferences, seminars, exhibitions, performances and other events. Every year there are over 500 meetings held.

Riga Congress Centre was built in 1982. Due to conference hall with 1200 seats, it is an important municipal building in Riga. The building was exposed together with the fountain that is situated in front of the building. The fountain was renovated in 2000 and now is decorated by rainbow colour lights that come out of the water. It is worth seeing it especially in the dark. The location of the Congress Centre was chosen in Riflemen park (previously called Kronvalda Park in 1982), in the place of Officers House.
