The Mentzendorff’s House with its 17th–18th cent. dwelling-house atmosphere is the only museum of its kind in the Baltics.
The Riga dwelling house-museum built in 1695 gives an insight into the traditions of a well-to-do citizen’s traditional everyday culture. On show are unique 17th–18th cent. ceiling and wall paintings. Visitors can enter the ancient shop premises, a kitchen with a mantel-chimney, salon for guests, dancing hall, family chapel, the lord’s room, the so-called poet’s and girl’s rooms.
The Museum is named after the last owner of the house, the merchant family of Mentzendorffs.
