Behind bars in a Soviet prison
Early morning departure for Liepaja, Latvia’s third-largest city. We visit Karosta, the former Soviet military base. This huge complex of concrete apartment blocks, barracks and brick buildings was completely off limits to the public until the 90s.
After an informative tour of this ghost city within a city it’s time for a stint in prison! Karosta prison was used by both the Nazis and the Soviets, with many prisoners tortured and executed within its territory. After an in-depth tour of the prison with our expert guide the real business begins...
You will be issued with prison uniforms and locked up in a cell. You will no longer have any rights and will gain a small understanding of the terrible conditions and treatment prisoners endured at this Soviet prison. Be warned! This prison ‘reality show’ is not for the faint hearted.
Alternatively, the tour can be tailored so that you spend the night in prison! (9pm –1am) before finally returning to Riga around 4am thoroughly scared.
