Zagkalni, fishing operation
The owners of this operation offer fishing opportunities in Latvia’s fifth largest lake, Lake Usma. Aija Bušere is always ready to prepare tasty fish soup from the day’s catch and to smoke fish. Services that are available include leasing of boats, participation in fishing expeditions, casting of fishing nets all around the year, boat trips on the lake, as well as tastings of locally canned smoked bream. There are also accommodations and tenting locations. Horseback riding is available as well.
Inga Salins, boat trips
This is an unusual offer - a 90-minute trip into the sea in a wooden fishing boat (two boats, each can hold up to 20 passengers). The trip will take you between one and two kilometres into the sea. You will be able to observe the fishing process, and then fish soup will be cooked right there in your boat.
Robeznieki, crab grower
In the farm’s ponds and in special basins, Jānis Krūmiņš grows broad-claw crabs and their young. Visitors can catch their own crabs and then eat them. There are stories about the lives of crabs and the specifics of growing them. Visitors may want to take along their fishing poles, because there are fish in local ponds.
Sillakas, trout farmer
This farm is surrounded by extensive forestland, and on the shores of the Rauna River the farmer raises trout and other pond fish. Commercial fishing, purchase and tasting of fish and accommodations are all available.
Laikas, sea fish soup
Fising in the sea. Among the fish that are caught there might be plaice, bream, perch and pike. The hosts cook a delicious sea fish soup and also smoke fish.
