In general, Riga is a very safe and hospitable city, if you treat the people and environment around you with respect and courtesy your time here will be one of enjoyment and engagement!  Start stepping out of line and you might not be so warmly welcomed!

Famous Lats
Charles Bronson: Regarded by many as the personification of the tough guy, Bronson starred in the war epic "The Great Escape" in 1963. There are many Latvians who now claim him as one of their own, but neighbouring Lithuania appear to have a stronger case. Bronson died in 2003, aged 81.
