When to Visit?
Riga is undoubtedly an all-year destination. During the summer the nearby white-sand beaches are packed with sun-worshipers, whilst during the height of winter Riga resembles the scene on a traditional Christmas card with its cobbled streets, church spires and medieval buildings wrapped in a blanket of pristine snow.

Charles Bronson: Regarded by many as the personification of the tough guy, Bronson starred in the war epic "The Great Escape" in 1963. There are many Latvians who now claim him as one of their own, but neighbouring Lithuania appear to have a stronger case. Bronson died in 2003, aged 81.
