Depart from your hotel by bus to enjoy a panoramic tour of the city of Riga. The bus will take you across the river to Pardaugava to explore the very interesting and less chartered regions south of the river - some say the true and authentic Riga.
You will also venture in to millionaire's avenue - a district where the rich and famous reside overlooking Riga's unique panorama, before being overwhelmed by Victory Park.
Then we will head to to Alberta and Elizabeth streets, the 2 most beautiful Art nouveau streets in Riga.
Then the guide will take you to the colourful Riga Central Market to get a taste of Riga local life. From this point, you will have a glance at the Academy of Science, a relic of the Soviet past.
After this stop, the group will enjoy the rich architectural heritage of Riga, an elegant mix of Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance and Medieval style. You will discover St Peter church, the house of Blackheads, the guild houses, the Latvian parliament, Dome Church, the three brothers, the National Opera, the monument of freedom and the Swedish gate.
The grand finale of the tour will be a very entertaining and informative presentation about Riga's Black Balzam, the Latvian national beverage created by loving hands from 24 natural ingredients. Balzam adds up to a harmonious blend of extracts made of herbs, flowers, juices, roots and berries. The unique recipe was created in the 18th century by Riga pharmacist Abraham Kunz. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience in Riga - a trip that will be long remembered by our family of 23, who were there on a nostalgia trip, retracing the steps of my youth there. Pierre, led us on excursions through Old Riga, the Art Nouveau District, to the Ethnographic Museum and Bralu Kapi and several other interesting places, always entertaining us with historical, political and cultural information.
